Account Executive – Employee Benefits


  • Will serve as the primary operations liaison between firm and clients.
  • Under management or Producer direction, serve as the primary technical advisor to clients on all group insurance issues. Interface effectively and confidently with senior management of clients and/or prospects, representing firm in the highest professional manner.
  • Will prepare Annual Service Plan, Compensation Disclosure, and Client Stewardship reports for each client. Meet with clients quarterly or as necessary.
  • Work on renewal and marketing efforts and take a lead role in carrier selection and/or financial negotiations.
  • Will oversee/approve all vendor, plan design, and financial recommendations. Will write Executive Summary for Annual Renewal/Marketing report. Prepare implementation schedule.
  • Review drafts of all employee communication pieces.
  • Perform reviews and then sign-off on all agreements and/or documents.
  • Will schedule and lead all client meetings and attend enrollment meetings as necessary.
  • Ensure that data is loaded and updated annually for all assigned clients using firms datebase software.
  • Supervise Account Managers and Account Administrators in preparation of Monthly Experience Reporting, Mid-Year Report, and Annual Renewal/Marketing Report.
  • Coordinate and direct the efforts of all team members to fulfill service responsibilities, objectives, and the overall effectiveness of the team.
  • Direct complex underwriting and funding issues and strategies.
  • Develop mutually-beneficial relationships with insurance carriers and administrators to generate optimal results for clients.
  • Direct/assign special projects for clients as needed.
  • Prepare written correspondence, reports, and analyses as needed.
  • Develop and maintain an extensive knowledge of insurance coverages and markets.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field and/or equivalent experience in the insurance industry.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in employee benefits, to include 5 years’ experience working in an insurance brokerage or consulting environment.
  • Working knowledge of different financial arrangements and products available to clients, as well as federal and state legislation and legal issues related to the insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting, financing, and funding approaches.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret financial information and data to facilitate decision making.
  • Must have the ability to prepare and present client presentations with clarity and understanding.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel required; PowerPoint desired.
  • Must have strong internal and external customer service skills, along with the ability to develop sound client relationships with multiple clients at the highest level of client organizations.
  • Must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to interact with associates at all levels of responsibility, along with the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated professional, tactful negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve objectives.
